What is fête?
fête is an event platform that lets organisers create private events with guest check-in, live menus, a programme, and a shared photo album. This policy explains what information we collect from organisers and guests, why, and how we handle it.
Information we collect
From organisers (when you sign up)
- Your name and the name of your organisation
- Your email address and a hashed version of your password (we never store the plaintext password)
- Your account plan and status
- The date you accepted this privacy policy
From guests (when you check in to an event)
- Your name and email address (required)
- Your phone number and any dietary restrictions (optional, if you provide them)
- The date and time you checked in
- The date you accepted this privacy policy
Photos
If you upload photos through the guest page, those files are stored in the cloud storage provider the platform admin has configured — either Nextcloud (self-hosted) or Google Drive. The event organiser can view and download those photos from their dashboard.
Why we collect it
- Organiser accounts — to let you log in, manage your events, and receive notifications
- Guest data — to give the organiser an accurate guest list and to let you access the event content after checking in
- Photos — to build a shared album that both the organiser and guests contribute to
We do not use any of this information for advertising or sell it to third parties.
How long we keep it
- Account data — kept for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time (see below).
- Guest check-in records — kept with the event record. Deleted when the organiser deletes the event.
- Photos — automatically deleted a set number of days after the event date (the organiser is warned by email a few days before deletion). The platform admin configures the retention window; the default is 30 days.
Where data is stored
Account and guest data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by the platform operator. Photos are stored in whichever cloud storage provider the platform admin has configured (Nextcloud or Google Drive). The platform admin can tell you which is in use for a given event.
